Junior Infants Sports Day

This year we had some fantastic races.  We even added some extra races to the sports day. The children and teachers had a brilliant day.

Word Puddles

We are very good at all of the words we learned in junior infants.  We are revising all of  our words with some fun games.  This is called word puddles.  Only when you know the word can you jump onto the next word.  We had a path leading all around the room, most of the children made it all around the room with out falling into the sea.  This would be a great game to play over the summer with words covered this year and even some new words. 

Harvesting

Today we harvested our vegetables.
We are still waiting for the carrots and sunflowers.  They will need more time.  So we will continue to water them and take good care of the vegetables and flower.  We were able to harvest some of our radishes and the children who wanted to taste them brough some home to wash and taste.  We learned alot about vegetables, food and growing things this year.  We found out with a little care we can all grow a few vegetables in our garden.  We were amazed that the little seeds we planted in the ground just a few short weeks ago grew into                                      vegetables that we see in the shops.

Euro 2012

We are learning all about the countries that are taking part in the Euro 2012.  We designed some great looking kits for the teams in the competition.  We painted some soccer balls in the colours of the teams we are going to support.  We all hope Poland and Ireland do very well.  We think the teams would like our artwork.

Caterpillar to Butterfly

We watched 5 teeny tiny caterpillars grow into big fat caterpillars, form a chrysalis and then turn into 5 beautiful butterflies.  We released the butterflies on a nice day. 

We made some fantastic art and  we all the know the lifecycle of the butterfly really well!!

Our trip to the beach

We took a trip to the local beach.  The weather was lovely.  It was very hot so we made sure to look after our skin by applying sun lotion.

Fizzy rocket

We had fun making a fizzy rocket using coke and mints.  The mints cause the CO2 in the coke to dissolve and become more like a gas.

A visit from the Galway Fire Brigade

 

The children were very excited to get a visit from the fire brigade.  Two children in particular in our class as they want to be fire fighters when they grow up.
